Die Burg Vatika wird erstmals in der Chronik der Morea erwähnt. Ab 1262 gehörte das Gebiet zum Byzantinischen Reich und wechselte später zwischen venezianischer und osmanischer Herrschaft, bis 1821 der griechische Unabhängigkeitskrieg begann.

Η μονή είναι κτισμένη στη πλαγιά ενός λόφου έξω από τη Νεμέα και αποτελεί κτιριακό συγκρότημα σε διάφορα επίπεδα που ακολουθούν τη διαμόρφωση του βράχου. Σώζονται τοιχογραφίες και βυζαντινά γλυπτά εντοιχισμένα Καθολικό.
