Vatika Castle is first mentioned in the Chronicle of the Morea, which records the granting of the area by William II Villehardouin to the nobles of Monemvasia. In 1262, the region came under Byzantine rule and later alternated between Venetian and Ottoman control until the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence in 1821.

Τρουλαία βασιλική με καμαροσκεπή νάρθηκα και μεταγενέστερο ξυλόστεγο εξωνάρθηκα. Κατα μήκος του βόρειου και νότιου τοίχου υπάρχουν δυο τυφλά αψιδώματα. Τοιχογραφίες του Παναγιώτου εξ Ιωαννίνων. Ξυλόγλυπτο τέμπλο του 18ου αι. Εγχάρακτη χρονολογία στις παραστάδες της Ν θύρας. Διακρίνονται οι εξής φάσεις: 1693 (Καθολικό), 1745 (ανακαινίσθηκε), 1745 (τοιχογραφίες), 1762/ 3 (τέμπλο).
