Die Burg Vatika wird erstmals in der Chronik der Morea erwähnt. Seit 1262 stand das Gebiet unter byzantinischer Herrschaft und wechselte später zwischen venezianischer und osmanischer Kontrolle, bis zum Beginn des griechischen Unabhängigkeitskriegs im Jahr 1821.

Η μονή είναι κτισμένη στη πλαγιά ενός λόφου έξω από τη Νεμέα και αποτελεί κτιριακό συγκρότημα σε διάφορα επίπεδα που ακολουθούν τη διαμόρφωση του βράχου. Σώζονται τοιχογραφίες και βυζαντινά γλυπτά εντοιχισμένα Καθολικό.
