Zakynthos, or “Zante”, or the Flower of the Levant (=Flower of the East) according to the Venetians, is one of the islands of the Ionian Islands. It is the eleventh largest island in Greece, as well as the third largest (after Kefalonia and Corfu) and second most populated island in the Ionian Islands. The climate of Zakynthos is mild Mediterranean with a lot of rain from November to January and a lot of sunshine throughout the year. It has certainly been affected by global climate changes. Summers are usually hot and dry, characterized by hot days and an almost daily northwesterly wind from afternoon to evening.
