Το Μουσείο ιδρύθηκε το έτος 1972 και τα σημαντικότερα από τα εκθέματά του είναι παλαιά ναυλοσύμφωνα, ασφαλιστήρια συμβόλαια, διάφορα ναυτικά ημερολόγια, όπου περιγράφεται η ζωή των Ανδρίων στα καράβια πριν από τον Αγώνα του 1821, λιθογραφίες ανδριώτικων πλοίων και των μετέπειτα πρώτων ατμοκίνητων φορτηγών πλοίων της Ελλάδος κλπ.

Επίσης εκτίθενται μακέτες, οι οποίες αρχίζουν από τις παλαιές σκούνες μέχρι τα σημερινά τεράστια δεξαμενόπλοια.

Τα εκθέματα είναι πρωτότυπα και παρουσιάζουν ζωντανά όλη την ιστορία της Ανδριώτικης εμπορικής ναυτιλίας από τα αρχαία χρόνια μέχρι σήμερα.

Maritime Museum of Andros

The Museum was founded in 1972 and the most important of its exhibits are the old freight contracts, insurance contracts, various nautical diaries, where the life of the Andriots on the seas before the 1821 War of Indepedence is described, lithographs of Andriot ships and the later first stream freighters of Greece etc. There are also displayed models of ships, ranging from old schooners to huge modern tankers.

These exhibits are original and vividly present the entire history of Andros’ merchant marine, from antiquity to our day.
