The Archaeological Museum of Kerameikos houses exhibits of almost exclusively funerary character, originating from the excavations of the German Archaeological Institute at the Kerameikos archaeological site, covering an area of 38,500 sq. m. The museum is located within the archaeological site of the same name and is accessed via the pedestrian street of Ermou (148 Ermou Street), near Piraeus Street. It is a simple, single-story square building, whose façade is framed by a covered external stoa in a Γ-shape. Inside, there are four exhibition rooms surrounding a covered atrium, landscaped with olive and laurel trees as a small internal garden. The first room and the atrium host sculptures from all periods of antiquity, while the remaining three rooms display pottery and other finds mainly from the Kerameikos necropolis. Storage areas and a conservation workshop are located behind the exhibition spaces. A ticket office and shop can be found at the entrance of the archaeological site on Ermou Street.
